A little rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the 70 teams who came from all across the country to compete in the NKF Golf Classic National Championship in January 2010. They grabbed their woods and irons and showed their mettle at the picturesque and challenging golfer’s mecca—Pebble Beach, California—in the premier amateur golf event for charity. The NKF Golf Classic helps raise millions of dollars annually to support patients and their families affected by kidney disease.

A foursome consisting of Jeff Low, Menzo Cheney, David Cottle and Will Cottle, winners of the NKF Golf Classic played at Legacy Club Golf Course in Longwood, Florida, won the Platinum Division tournament. Kip Merck, Brad Elrod, Gene Dupre, and Keith Bradford, who qualified as runners-up at the NKF Golf Classic at the Spring Valley Country Club in Columbia, South Carolina, took the Gold Division title.

Since the NKF Golf Classic teed off in 1987, more than 250,000 amateur golfers have played in more than 1,000 local NKF golf tournaments around the U.S. The Golf Classic National Championships are played on the fabled fairways and signature holes of the Monterey Peninsula: Pebble Beach Golf Links, The Links at Spanish Bay, and Del Monte.

The road to Pebble Beach starts at your local golf course. Each winning and second place team from every local National Kidney Foundation Golf Classic Tournament is invited to compete for the National Championship in either the Platinum or Gold Divisions. If the U.S. Open or the U.S. Amateur is not in your future, this three-day tournament may be your only chance to compete for a national championship at Pebble Beach! Join the thousands of golfers who participate each year for the exciting competition, valuable gifts, and the chance to win great prizes—all to benefit a worthy cause.
