Lifestyle Changes Can Treat High Blood Pressure in Children with Kidney Disease
Lifestyle Changes that Make a Difference:
Maintain a healthy weight. Being overweight makes the child more likely to develop other serious health problems such as diabetes and heart disease and can make existing high blood pressure worse.
Cut back on table salt and salty snacks.
Avoid substances that can raise blood pressure such as tobacco, caffeine and certain medications.
Exercise regularly and appropriately for the child's age and medical condition. Increasing physical activity helps reduce blood pressure.
