The Kidney Kitchen offers this breakfast cereal recipe to promote kidney health at the start of your day.
After further investigation, they learned that one kidney was failing and the other was tiny and had actually stopped growing when Klarissa was just six months old. It was evident that a transplant would be needed, and Klarissa's mom stepped forward, was a good match, and gave her a kidney.
4 Servings (4-1/2 cup serving sizes)
1 cup Bulgur wheat
1 cup Cranergy drink
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
Â½ cup Craisins
Â¼ cup chopped almonds
Mix bulgur wheat, Cranergy drink, sugar and cinnamon in a microwavable bowl. Cover and microwave 5 minutes or until all the liquid is absorbed. Stir in craisins and sprinkle with chopped almonds on top.
