Target Audience:
This course is designed for physician assistants and nurse practitioners in the field of nephrology.
Course Description:
It is an exciting time to be in Nephrology! Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants are increasingly being integrated into the care of patients across the spectrum of kidney disease. From the initial diagnosis of acute and/or chronic kidney disease through CKD, dialysis, transplant and ICU; Advanced Practitioners are becoming an important part of the patient care team. Whether you are new to Nephrology and need fundamental knowledge, or an experienced practitioner looking to expand your scope of practice, there are a variety of offerings to fit your needs. Nephrology 201 will take you from basic to critical care in the treatment and diagnosis of kidney disease and its co-morbidities.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Review the Evaluation and Treatment of patients with kidney disease
- Discuss the critical aspects of patients with life threatening electrolyte and kidney dysfunction
- Review the common and uncommon complications with the transplant patient
