Workshop Description:
Care of the dialysis patient is proving ever more complicated, with simple and effective care opportunities often overlooked and more aggressive care perhaps delivered inappropriately. This workshop will provide clinicians with several potentially high yield strategies for maximizing the overall health of dialysis patients, exploring risks and benefits of nutritional interventions, exercise and preventative care in the dialysis population.

Workshop Description:
Hypertension continues to be a clinical challenge. This workshop is designed to provide practical and evidence‑based tools to facilitate blood pressure management across the spectrum through patient empowerment. Attendees will obtain a better understanding of how to interpret home blood pressure monitoring as well as common pitfalls in sodium restriction. An overview will be provided on the impact of health literacy in hypertension in the CKD and non-CKD setting.


Onco-Nephrology, Cancer, Chemotherapy and the Kidney

Workshop Description:
Onco-nephrology is the study of kidney disease in patients with cancer and getting chemotherapy. Both the cancer and treatment of the cancer can have effects on the kidney. Experts will discuss novel chemotherapy agents and how they can cause tubular, interstitial and glomerular damage. In addition, speakers shall also discuss acute kidney injury in cancer patients. Acute kidney injury in cancer patients can have non -traditional causes and it is associated with certain risk factors and may potentially be amenable to preconditioning or prophylactic strategies.This workshop will also focus on pathophysiology related to paraneoplastic glomerular diseases associated with cancer and their management.


Advances in Geriatrics/Aging and the Kidney

Workshop Description:
This workshop will provide attendees with an overview of the physiological changes in the kidney with aging, and how these may impact estimates and assessment of kidney function. Practical aspects of managing older adults with kidney disease will also be discussed, including the prognostic importance of proteinuria, complexities of care including multimorbidity, and how to best manage older adults using an individualized approach considering their multimorbidity.
