Target Audience:
Designed for nephrologists, cardiologists, and healthcare practitioners with
an interest in cardio-renal disease.
Course Description:
This course is an interdisciplinary collaboration aiming to address the
increasing challenges and concepts facing nephrologists and cardiologists with regard to the interplay between the heart failure syndrome and acute or chronic kidney disease. The goal is to provide a scientific forum to discuss the latest developments and future directions in pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of concomitant cardiac and renal insufficiency
Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Define our current understanding of the pathophysiology of the cardio-renal syndrome.
- Discuss lessons learned from past and recent major heart failure trials
- Discuss the approaches to diagnosis and utilization of newer cardiac and renal markers to identify patients with cardio-renal syndrome.
- Examine both the standard therapeutic approaches and innovative monitoring and treatment options for the cardio-renal syndrome patient.
- Review future areas of research in the cardio-renal syndrome.
