Nephrology Social Work 101: Learning/Reviewing the Clinical & Concrete Fundamentals

Target Audience:
- Nephrology social workers who are new to the sub-specialty
- Experienced nephrology social workers who would like to review basic skills
- NSW-C candidates
Course Description:
This course provides a comprehensive review of the Conditions for Coverage and their interpretive guidelines as it relates to Nephrology Social Work Services. Participants will complete this workshop with enhanced knowledge of techniques for implementing these into their practice in an efficient and effective manner in a fast paced and culturally diverse treatment setting while maintaining compliance. In addition this workshop will provide a guide to developing a personal practice curriculum that will allow the participant to integrate the competencies for the NSW certification into everyday practice.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Review briefly the various types of Personality Disorders and the diagnostic characteristics of each.
- Discuss which Personality Disorders will be most frequently seen in medical settings.
- Identify common ethical situations that this type of patient will place healthcare providers in and will and challenge them to violate professional boundaries.
- Learn strategies and techniques for working effectively with this type of patient.
- View case examples of working with this patient.
