San Antonio Spurs forward Sean Elliott will serve as a spokesperson for the National Kidney Foundation, the foundation announced today. After suffering from focal glomerulosclerosis for the past six years, Elliott received a kidney transplant from his brother, Noel, last summer.
Says Fred Herbert, chairman of the National Kidney Foundation, “We’re delighted that Sean Elliott has chosen to work with us and know he will make a real difference in our ability to reach millions of young people with critically important messages about kidney disease and organ donation.”
Currently serving as color commentator for the Spurs, Elliott is traveling with the team and plans to resume playing basketball this season. He will work with the National Kidney Foundation on a variety of organ donation and kidney disease prevention programs.
The National Kidney Foundation is dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation.
