Statement of the National Kidney Foundation
This new study suggests that moderate analgesic intake in men is not associated with adverse effects on the kidney. The study did not address habitual or daily intake of analgesics and it also excluded women.
The foundation's ongoing concern has focused on overuse of analgesics and its potential effects on the kidney. Caution is still advisable regarding use of any analgesics in high doses and for extended periods of time. In all cases, consumers should make sure their physicians know what they are taking.
