Congressional Kidney Caucus
The Congressional Kidney Caucus is comprised of legislators within the House of Representatives who work to educate their congressional colleagues and the public about kidney disease and prevention.
The National Kidney Foundation has worked closely with the Kidney Caucus since its founding in 2002 by Representatives Jim McDermott (D-WA) and Mark Kirk (R-IL). Together with the NKF and other organizations from around the kidney community, the Kidney Caucus provides a forum for the discussion of quality of care and quality of life issues, acts as a resource on the scope and impact of kidney disease, and serves as a source of information on public policy initiatives to aid individuals with chronic kidney disease and irreversible kidney failure.
