Does anyone have any information on the effect of alcohol consumption on kidney transplant. I have had issues lately with anxiety and depression and have found myself drinking 3-6 beers 3-4 times a week. I know this is not healthy but I would like some hard evidence.

I'm not 100% positive on whether the alcohol will have any adverse reactions with the immuno-suppresant drugs. You should contact your Transplant center, and/or neph to discuss this serious issue.
ALthough I DO KNOW that alcohol is a diuretic, which means it will cause dehydration, and dehydration is the worst kidney enemy.
You have to also keep in mind that what if after a few beers you forget to take your meds? you cannot afford to go without your meds, otherwise your kidney will reject.
If you're feeling depressed and anxious , maybe some anti-depressants might help.
take care!!

We are group of persons, trying to save life by donating kidney. What is the point of having two good ones when someone has not even one good kidney?
We beleive that God make it two so that we can give one.

We hope to hear from you
