Nephrology Essentials

This overview of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is an educational tool developed for Advanced Practitioners who are new to nephrology. The goal of this program is to provide the Advanced Practitioner a foundation for care and management of adult Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients.

Upon completion of this program the Advanced Practitioner will be able to:

• Recognize and diagnose CKD
• Distinguish among methods for assessment of CKD progression
• Identify strategies to reduce CKD progression in diabetes and hypertension
• Identify management strategies for CKD complications
• Summarize patient preparation for renal replacement options
