Dr. Williams is the doctor every patient dreams of having—and those who ever aspired to become a doctor, dreamed of becoming. He is a smart, dedicated professional who understands the complexities of kidney disease and its treatment. Yet he has a remarkable “chairside” manner, including the ability to explain even the most complex concepts in terms that everyone is able to understand.
Dr. Williams is 40 years old and has been a practicing nephrologist since 1996. Over the years he has seen great strides in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease including the use of dialysis. He is active in the nephrology community and closely associated with advocacy groups such as the National Kidney Foundation. He is also involved in research and has participated in a variety of studies on the treatment of kidney disease with dialysis.
When asked why he entered the field of nephrology, his response is: “I just find the kidney to be a fascinating organ. It has so many vital functions, including purifying the body. And I love the patients—the diversity of people and the many ways they make an effort to enjoy full, hopeful lives despite a serious disease.”
Dr. Williams is married with two children. His wife, Arlene, is a licensed accountant.
Originally from Chicago, Dr. Williams is an avid and fervent Cubs fan. Ever the optimist, he begins each season exclaiming, "This is the year"--although he's invariably disappointed...until the next season rolls around and he's once again the optimist.
