- NKF/Amgen KDOQI Research Fellowship
These Fellowships are designed to provide training opportunities in epidemiology, biostatistics, translational research, health systems research and/or health outcomes research, to prepare young kidney investigators to address the gaps in knowledge identified in the process of developing KDOQI Clinical Practice Guidelines.

- Clinical Scientist Award
The objective of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Clinical Scientist Award is to support investigators who have demonstrated outstanding clinical research potential to promote their continued success as independent investigators. The award provides salary support for three years to enable recipients to devote at least 75% of their time to research for the duration of the award.
The intent of the award is to fund highly promising clinical investigators during the early stages of their independent research careers. Applicants who are well-established in their fields are ineligible. An applicant cannot have an academic rank higher than an Associate Professor. Individuals who have completed or currently hold an equivalent award from any extramural funding agency, e.g., American Heart Association Established Investigator Award, are not eligible.

- Research Fellowship Application
The purpose of National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Research Fellowships is: (1) to foster training of young and new investigators with the potential of making contributions to the understanding and cure of kidney diseases; (2) to foster, through training fellows, kidney-related research that is of high merit; and (3) to encourage high quality applicants who want to make a career change into academic Nephrology.

- Young Investigator Grant Program
The purpose of the Young Investigator Grant Program is to support research in the fields of nephrology, urology and related disciplines by individuals who have completed fellowship training and who hold junior faculty positions at university-affiliated medical centers in the United States.
Applications will be considered from individuals who will have completed research training in nephrology, urology or closely related fields prior to the start of the grant award and who intend to pursue research directly related to these areas.

- KDOQI Research Grant
The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) new research grant initiative is intended to stimulate investigation addressing the research recommendations that accompany each Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (KDOQI) guideline. Answering these questions will enable KDOQI to provide more authoritative guidance regarding appropriate tests and therapies in the future, lead to enhanced patient outcomes, advance patient advocacy and, ultimately, validate, critique and improve guidelines. These research grants should also contribute to the effective utilization of KDOQI guidelines and clinical practice recommendations.

- Research on IgA Nephropathy
The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) seeks proposals for the support of studies relating to IgA nephropathy. Applications are due December 1, 2009 and will be accepted for IgA research under the NKF Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and Young Investigator Grant programs. Funding for this program announcement has been made available by Strides for IgA Nepropathy. - Franklin McDonald/Fresenius Medical Care Clinical Research Grant of the National Kidney Foundation
The National Kidney Foundation is soliciting applications for the third Franklin McDonald/Fresenius Medical Care Clinical Research Grant of the National Kidney Foundation. Proposals are due on December 1, 2009. Applicants must hold a full-time faculty appointment at a university or an equivalent position as a scientist on the staff of a research organization. They must be able to spend a minimum of 50% of their time conducting research and 25% of effort in the direct care of maintenance dialysis patients and/or in teaching medical students, residents or nephrology fellows the pathophysiology and treatment of CKD, ESRD, or maintenance dialysis.
