Parker at the Games
Douglas E. Milbrath

Participating in the 2004 U.S. Transplant Games was a fantastic experience for us. It was our son's first year at the Games. We met so many people and families from around the country who shared so many wonderful stories of leading fulfilling, successful lives after an organ transplant. It brought a renewed sense of hope and encouragement for those we knew still waiting for a donor organ, and invoked many of the same feelings of relief and amazement we had when Parker first received his transplant.

Parker had a chance to meet and compete against other children his age (3-5 year-olds) who had been through an organ transplant as well. For the first time since his transplant, he was surrounded by other kids who had the same thing happen to them and they were all healthy, happy and having a wonderful time competing, regardless of the outcome. We laughed and smiled for three straight days. It was truly a great experience for all of us.
