Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP)

Blood Pressure TestTen years ago, the National Kidney Foundation established the Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP). Since then nearly 100,000 Americans have been tested at free public health screenings throughout the country*. In addition to reaching individuals at increased risk of kidney disease, the program's structured data collection provides an opportunity to leverage what we know about kidney disease with health departments, elected officials, managed care and insurance companies and medical societies; in turn influencing public health policies and practices. (*The screenings are organized by NKF affiliates and divisions.)

The NKF Serving Maine has tested hundreds of individuals in our annual campaign of free public health (KEEP) screenings in medically underserved communities throughout the region. The program raises awareness about kidney disease among high risk individuals and provides free testing and educational information. Each screening analyzes blood pressure and weight measurements as well as blood and urine tests to detect signs of diabetes and kidney disease.
