Robert Juneau WINS A SILVER MEDAL in Table Tennis at the World Games

ROBERT JUNEAU returns home to CNY from the World Games held in Australia with a SILVER MEDAL IN TABLE TENNIS….

Congratulations Robert!!!! The National Kidney Foundation of Central NY’s - TEAM CNY announces transplant recipient Robert Juneau, of Marietta, NY, attended the 17th World Transplant Games, in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, August 22-30, 2009. Robert is a double lung transplant recipient.

Robert lost the final round against Sweden. He said the competition was fierce. He made many new lifetime friends while showcasing to the world ORGAN DONATION WORKS. A first-time attendee at the 2008 NKF US Transplant Games in Pittsburg, PA, Robert received two medals; a gold medal in table tennis and a bronze medal in badminton.

The World Transplant Games are the single biggest organ donation and transplantation awareness event in the world and is the ideal way of showing the world what a difference organ donation can make.

The Games embrace all ages, from four years of age to 85 years young, and all are welcome to participate, provided they have received a life-saving organ transplant at least one year before the Games take place. Participants must be medically fit to take part, with no significant complications from their transplant surgery.

The Games include everything from 10-pin bowling and tennis to volleyball and a mini-marathon. There’s athletics, swimming, table tennis, badminton, squash, golf, lawn bowls, and cycling, to name a few. The standard of these Games are high and many records are held.
