Tournament Information
All amateur golfers are encouraged to compete in the National Kidney Foundation Golf Classic. Known as the premiere amateur golf event for charity, this exciting tournament presents an opportunity to participate in an inspiring event, to win valuable prizes—and to possibly receive an invitation to play at Pebble Beach!
The Virginia Golf Classic tournament is conducted using a four-person team scramble format, following USGA Handicap Index requirements. Each team member tees off, and the best drive is selected. All four players then play from that spot. This process continues until the hole is completed. Each team must use at least three drives from each player during the course of the round. The team with the lowest gross score wins.
The team scramble format provides everyone -- men and women, scratch golfers, and high handicappers -- an opportunity to win valuable prizes and possibly that invitation to Pebble Beach. Golfers of all skill levels are encouraged to compete, enjoy a great day of golf and support the National Kidney Foundation.
Westwood Country Club, established in 1954, is situated on 157 acres just minutes from Tysons Corner in Vienna, Virginia. Their challenging 18-hole, par 72 golf course plays to 6,758 yards from the championship tees. The beautifully maintained, traditional parkland course features bent grass fairways lined by mature hardwoods, strategic bunkers, ponds and meandering creeks. With bent grass tees and greens, which feature subtle undulations, Westwood provides a course that is a pleasure to walk and will test the skills of golfers of all abilities.
