The 29th Annual Kidney Ball on November 21 at the Hilton Washington raised approximately $1.1 million in the fight against kidney disease! Proceeds from the Kidney Ball support medical research, early detection screenings, patient and community services, professional education, and organ donation awareness in the Washington, DC region.
Ronald D. Paul, President of the Ronald D. Paul Companies and Chairman of EagleBank, received the Outstanding Achievement Award with a video tribute for more than two decades of service to the National Kidney Foundation.
Special guests at the gala included Washington Nationals Centerfielder Nyjer Morgan, Washington Redskins Quarterback Colt Brennan, DC Council Member and Former Mayor Marion Barry, and his kidney donor Kim Dickens, and world renowned mezzo–soprano Denyce Graves and her husband Dr. Robert Montgomery, Chief of Transplantation at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Blondie’s special performance packed the dance floor with some of their hit songs including “Call Me” and the event’s theme song, “The Tide is High.”
Thank you to all of our guests who followed our advice, ’to bid high and bid often.” You certainly made the live and silent auctions more enjoyable. We are also very grateful to the Kidney Ball supporters – especially the Kidney Ball Committee members, Auction Committee members and our corporate sponsors – who gave their time and financial support in order to make this event such a success.
