Ask the Doctor
Questions about kidney disease? Risk factors? Signs and symptoms? Are you concerned about yourself, a friend or family member? Ask Dr. Spry.
Come to the NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo on March 16-17 at the DC Convention Center. There are hundred of exhibits, demonstrations, plenty of giveaways and fun for the entire family.
Be sure to stop by the NKF booth and find out if you're at risk for kidney disease. High blood pressure and diabetes are the two leading causes of kidney disease.
* May take longer during peak hours; including time spent in line waiting to begin the screening
If you are at risk, you'll be encouraged to follow up with your doctor* or sign up for an appointment at the next available Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP) screening.
KEEP is a free comprehensive health screening which includes blood and urine tests used to determine your kidney function.
* If you do not have a primary care provider (PCP), you will be provided with a listing of free and sliding-scale clinics.
"The risk assessment I received made a big difference to my health and well-being. During the screening, one of the health professionals noticed that I was taking a medication that was causing me harm. Thanks to the NBC4 Expo, I'm no longer taking that medication and am in touch with my cardiologist."
