Save the Date for the Celebrating Life Under the Stars Gala
Save the Date for the annual Celebrating Life Under the Stars Gala to be held onSaturday, October 18, 2014 at the JW Marriott downtown Indianapolis. The Gala will honor Michael A. Kraus, MD, FACP, Service Line Chief for IU Health Physicians Kidney Diseases, Chief Medical Officer of Adult Dialysis IU Health, Medical Director of Home and Acute Dialysis, Professor of Clinical Medicine, Indiana University School of Medicine, and Long-time Board Member and Volunteer for the NKFI. Scholarships for Kidney Patients
The Larry Smock Scholarship is made available for Indiana residents who are on dialysis, have received a kidney transplant, or have a diagnosis of chronic kidney disease. Scholarships must go towards pursuing higher education in an academic or monitored occupational setting. All applicants must have a high school diploma or its equivalent. The Fund was established in 1992 with monies donated by the Smock family and the Martinsville community in memory of kidney patient Larry Smock who was awaiting a kidney transplant when he passed away. Congratulations to The NKFI/Steel Dynamic's 13th Annual 2014 Golf Classic which was held on June 10 & 11, 2014 at the Bridgewater Golf Course. The Golf Classic was a very successful event and proceeds raised will help the NKFI's programs and services. NKFI George L. Thomas Golf Classic
The 2nd annual NKFI George L. Thomas Golf Classic will be held on June 25, 2014 at the Warren Golf Course of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. The NKFI will host the annual Kidney Camp on May 30-June 4, 2014 at Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, Indiana. The camp is free for children ages 8-18 who have kidney disease or are a kidney recipient. Financial contributions from individuals and companies make the experience possible along with the many wonderful volunteers. Every year, more campers arrive to be part of a unique experience that brings children with similar health issues together from all around the state.
