Course Description

This one-day multi-disciplinary seminar will enhance understanding of advances in care of the chronic kidney disease patient and provide information to nephrology professionals. Patients will be able to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the ESRD patient, transplant recipients, caregivers and the professionals providing that care.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this seminar, participants should be able to:

  1. Understand the etiologies of Thrombotic Microangiopathy
  2. Explain recent advances in the classification and management of CKD
  3. Discuss the effect corporate changes have on patients and ways to positively impact patient's perceptions
  4. List the health benefits of humor
  5. Illustrate how you can assimilate humor/positivism into your dialysis program
  6. Understand the reasoning behind urgent start PD
  7. Identify the barriers to implementation of urgent start PD
  8. Explain kidney paired donation and the use of desensitization to increase the donor pool
  9. Bioavailability and Hidden Forms of Phosphorus
