KEEP Screenings
The Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP) is a free health screening offered by the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) for individuals at increased risk of developing kidney disease. The NKF recommends that individuals who are at risk for chronic kidney disease attend a kidney screening once a year.
The screening program raises awareness about kidney disease among high risk individuals and provides free testing and educational information. Each screening analyzes blood pressure and weight measurements as well as blood and urine tests to detect signs of diabetes and kidney disease.
Who should attend a kidney screening?
You should attend if you are 18 years or older and have one or more of the following:
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- A parent, grandparent, brother or sister with diabetes, high blood pressure or kidney disease
What will I have to do?
- You will be asked to fill out a health questionnaire
- Your blood pressure and weight will be measured
- You will be asked to give a blood and urine sample
- A doctor will review your results with you at the end of the screening.
Please allow approximately 45 minutes to complete the entire screening process. Space is limited at each of the screening events; please contact the National Kidney Foundation office at (651) 636-7300 to schedule an appointment.
