A free public health education program for elementary school students

Kidney Patrol is a free, interactive education program for fifth graders in the D.C. metro area. The Washington, D.C. area has the highest prevalence of kidney disease in the nation and it is crucial that kids who live in this region learn how to protect their kidneys from a young age. Kidney Patrol teaches young people about the function of the kidneys and facts about kidney disease while arming them with the tools necessary to prevent kidney disease through healthy eating habits and exercise. more info

Ronald D. Paul Companies Georgetown Kidney Walk

This 5K pledge-based event raises funds and awareness to support the 26 million Americans with chronic kidney disease and more than 100,000 on the waiting list for organs. It's a great way to build teams – co-workers, family, and friends – to support the local efforts of the National Kidney Foundation. The Walk is open to all ages, so bring the family along for a healthy, fun, and meaningful event that features a Kids Corner, a wellness area, and various pre and post-walk activities. more information

KEEP

The National Kidney Foundation's Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP®) offers free screening for those at risk - anyone 18 years and older with high blood pressure, diabetes or a family history of kidney disease. It is designed to raise awareness about kidney disease among high risk individuals and provide free testing and educational information, so that kidney disease and its complications can be prevented or delayed. more info

People Like Us Patient Conference

The People Like Us Patient Conference is a half-day patient outreach and education program. The conference provides knowledge, insight, and inspiration to people on dialysis and their families. Conference participants hear from guest speakers including doctors and patients, learn about renal-friendly diets, and have the opportunity to speak with professionals who can assist them with the challenges dialysis patients and families face. more information

Kidney Ball

Each year over 1,000 business, political and social leaders attend the Kidney Ball making it the second largest charity ball in the city. Funds raised through the event support ongoing programs in medical research, patient and community services, professional and community education and organ donation. Guests enjoy cocktails, dinner, silent and live auctions, entertainment and dancing. more information

Casino Night

Casino Night attracts a diverse group of guests and volunteers from the business, medical and philanthropic communities in the Greater Washington, DC region. The event features casino-style gaming (blackjack, craps, roulette), money wheel, Nintendo Wii Golf and Guitar Hero Tournament, Texas Hold 'Em Tournament, a silent auction and raffle, spirit tastings, and dancing. more information

Sporting Clays Classic

The Sporting Clays Classic gives the Foundation an opportunity to reach a different audience through this unique and growing sport. Experts and novices are welcome to participate in this event which features 100 target tournament with prizes for top teams, and post event buffet lunch and reception at the picturesque Pintail Point Sporting Clays Resort. more information

6th Annual April Open

The April Open, began in 2005, raises funds for National Kidney Foundation programs including the Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP) which focuses on the early detection of kidney disease. Expert as well as novice golfers are welcome to participate in the April Open, which takes place in Northern Virginia. more information

The DC101 Chili Cook-Off benefiting the National Kidney Foundation is DC's biggest one-day musical festival featuring nationally known bands and 101 of the area's best chili cooks competing for top honors. The Chili Cook-Off is now the largest fundraiser for the National Kidney Foundation Serving the National Capital Area and funds raised are used to support the Foundation's programs in research, preventive screening, public and professional education and organ donation awareness. more information

Each year in June, the National Kidney Foundation Serving the National Capital Area hosts its Annual Reception & Drawing. U.S. Transplant Games

The U.S. Transplant Games are an athletic competition among recipients of organ transplants. Competition in the U.S. Transplant Games is open to anyone who has received a lifesaving solid organ transplant – kidney, heart, liver, lung, and pancreas. Bone marrow recipients are also eligible to participate. The Games are an athletic event that calls attention to the success of organ and tissue transplantation, as well as a celebration of life among recipients, their families and friends. more info
