The University of Michigan Comprehensive Diabetes Center will host its third annual World Diabetes Day Health Fair. The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan will be at the event, providing important health information about the critical link between diabetes and chronic kidney disease. Other special presentations will be held on foot care and healthy eating. The day is designed to inform the public about diabetes, its causes, risks and management.

Kidney Walk

The NKF's Kidney Walk presents an occasion for dialysis patients, organ transplant recipients, donor families, living donors, the medical communities, and the general public to celebrate LIFE and support the Foundation's mission. The NKF of Michigan holds ten Kidney Walks across the state. more info

 

Kidney Ball

Held Annually in December, this Motown-inspired event continues to draw more than 700 givers and shakers to downtown Detroit. Champion of Hope & Diabetes & Kidney Day

The NKFM proudly present, each April, the Lansing Champion of Hope Awards and Diabetes and Kidney Advocacy Day. This NKFM's annual tribute dinner effectively brings together public policy officials, health plans and other health care provider officials, and corporations to celebrate effective health promotion and disease prevention initiatives. Advocacy Day draws many kidney disease advocates to Lansing to speak with their legislators and advocate for continued state funding. more info

Galaxy Awards

The Galaxy Award Tribute Dinner honors individuals in the area of business, community services and healthcare. This event is not only to honor members of our community, but, to raise needed funds to help individuals who have kidney disease and those who are at risk for kidney disease. more info

U.S. Transplant Games

The U.S. Transplant Games is a four-day athletic competition among recipients of organ transplants. Competition in the U.S. Transplant Games is open to anyone who has received a lifesaving solid organ transplant--heart, liver, kidney, lung, and pancreas. Bone marrow recipients are also eligible to participate. As much as the Games is an athletic event that calls attention to the success of organ and tissue transplantation, it is also a celebration of life among recipients, their families and friends. more info

Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP)

KEEP is a free kidney health screening program designed to raise awareness about kidney disease among high risk individuals and provide free testing and educational information, so that kidney disease and its complications can be prevented or delayed. more info
