Dialysis DayBrochures - The NKF of Florida, Inc. offers a variety of educational materials for Florida residents. Quantities of three or fewer of any five brochures are free and will be shipped at no charge. Patient Education Seminars

The NKF of Florida, Inc. conducts several conferences throughout the year. These programs provide patients with an opportunity to learn more about their disease and treatment.

In addition, the foundation offers pre-dialysis education through the People Like Us, Live! program. This award-winning program consists of six classes. Topics include an overview of kidney disease, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, transplantation, nutrition, and coping issues. PLUL is a comprehensive approach to educating and motivating patients to become more informed about kidney disease and its treatment and take an active part in making decisions that will affect their overall quality of life.

Direct Assistance

Nabi Donation Boca 1A long-term illness followed by kidney failure takes its toll both physically and financially on kidney patients. The NKF of Florida, Inc. provides assistance to Florida patients in need. Requests can be made for assistance with medications, transportation to and from dialysis, and emergency one-time grants. To apply for these funds, patients must contact their renal social worker and complete an application.

Kidney Camp

Loren kneeling with basketball 5-8-04The NKF of Florida, Inc. works through the Boggy Creek Gang Camp to provide a camping experience for children ages 7 to 16 with kidney failure or a kidney transplant. Children are medically supervised, and all treatment modalities take place on site. For more information, contact the Boggy Creek Gang at 352-483-4200.
