Emergency Financial Assistance
Emergency financial assistance is available for South Carolina patients who are experiencing crisis situations. Assistance with expenses such as medications, utilities, and rent can be requested through their dialysis clinic social worker.
Nutritional Supplement Program
Nutritional supplements are provided to patients who meet certain financial medical criteria. Those patients will receive the supplements through the dietician at their dialysis clinic.
Renal Vitamin Program
Dialysis patients may be entitlted to free renal vitamins. The clinic dietician requests the vitamins and they are mailed directly to the patient at the clinic.
Scholarship Program for Dialysis Patients
Scholarships are available to patients enrolling for a minimum of six credit hours at an accredited college, trade, technical, or vocational school. For more information and an application, please contact Peggy Strawhorn at 803-799-3870.
Household Goods/Clothing Assistance
Certificates are available to kidney patients in need of clothing or household goods. This service is provided through The Community Thrift Stores in Charleston only. A form requesting items must be completed by social worker.
Patient/Professional Conference
An annual full day conference for patients and professionals is held each October in the Greenville, Charleston, or Columbia area. The conference focuses on a variety of topics pertaining to kidney disease and organ donation. The 2009 Conference will be held in Columbia. Free Information
Educational material including brochures and videos on a wide variety of subjects related to kidney disease, organ donation, and transplantation are available to patients free of charge by calling 803-799-3870 in the Columbia area or toll-free at 800-488-2277.
