James P. Colangelo, MD Nurse Recognition Award
The National Kidney Foundation Serving Connecticut is proud to announce the first recipient of the James P. Colangelo, MD Nurse Recognition Award. Joyce Albert, R.N. CNIII is a Senior Transplant Coordinator at Yale-New Haven Hospital. The NKF Serving Connecticut will present the award to her this summer at a special luncheon in her honor.
Rosanna Colangelo, RN, wife of the late Dr. Colangelo, reviewed nominations in June. She recommended presenting the first Nurse Recognition Award to Ms. Albert after reading the nomination submitted by Janlyn Neri, a living kidney donor. An excerpt from Ms. Neri’s submission reads as follows: “Joyce’s impact was not just in my life, but also in the life of the recipient…my family…and my friends who knew she would look out for me with great vigilance…She is my hero.”
Nominations will continue to be accepted for the James P. Colangelo, MD Nurse Recognition Award. We invite you to continue submitting nominations using the form on this site.
