THE PROGRAM

Get Ready, Get Fit! is a free program presented by the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) in conjunction with the President’s Council on Fitness to encourage health and fitness among transplant recipients involved with the U.S. and World Transplant Games. The National Get Ready, Get Fit! program will aid you in developing a fitness plan, setting achievable activity goals, and allow you to track your progress in preparing for the Games. By joining the National Get Ready! Get Fit! Group, you will also be able to compare your progress with other participants training for the Games across the country!

Anyone, including family members and friends, can participate in the program; however, only transplant athletes who qualify will receive awards. Even if you do not qualify for a Presidential Challenge award, it is a great way to demonstrate that transplantation works, to improve your athletic skills for the Games, and most importantly, to improve your own health and well-being.

THE PRESIDENT’S CHALLENGE AWARDS & RECOGNITION

Through logging fitness activities and earning activity points, official Team USA 2005 athletes who are registered can earn special Presidential Challenge certificates and will be recognized at the 2005 World Transplant Games in London, Ontario, Canada! The National Kidney Foundation is responsible for monitoring the progress of registered athletes in the National Get Ready, Get Fit! Group between the specific time period leading up to the World Transplant Games. Please note that only official Team USA 2005 transplant athletes who register for the National Get Ready, Get Fit! program will be eligible to receive the Presidential Challenge awards at the 2005 World Transplant Games. Both athletes and family members/friends will be assigned a personalized name to join the National Group. However, in order to earn and be presented with an award, you must enter the personalized Group Member/ID Name that is assigned by the National office.

The National Kidney Foundation will order, pay for the awards for those who qualify and recognize Team USA athletes at the World Transplant Games.

The Presidential Active Lifestyle Award – The goal is to meet your daily activity goal (30 minutes a day for adults/60 minutes a day for kids under 18) at least 5 days a week, for a total of 6 weeks. You can take up to 8 weeks to complete the program.

  • Active Lifestyle Program: If you're active less than 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week and want to improve, this program is for you. The goal is to log at least 30 minutes of activity a day, 5 days a week, for 6 of 8 weeks.
  • The Presidential Champions Program: If you're already active and want a new challenge, this program is for you. The goal is to see how many activity points you can earn for being active.
