My Son Lives on Through Organ Donation:
A Donor Mom Experiences the Transplant Games The dream of a life. The courage to face the challenge of tomorrow. The strength to endure from weakness to greatness. The love and support offered and accepted by new found acquaintances and friends. This makes us all athletes in body, mind and spirit. We are all winners at the 2004 U.S. Transplant Games.
I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time my son Allen’s kidney-pancreas recipient. Jimmy was there, all the way from Mississippi, to participate in the Games. Along with him were his mother, Ann, and his sister, Kim, who is also a kidney-pancreas recipient. We became acquainted, shared in love, laughter and sorrow, and emerged at the end of three days as family. I feel honored to have Jimmy as the caretaker and journeyman for my Allen. |
