About The Games
The National Kidney Foundation (NKF), along with its 47 Affiliates, is preparing a celebration that will include over 7,000 athletes, their friends and families, living donors, donor families, transplant professionals and spectators from the Kentuckiana community.
Since 1990, the NKF has organized the U.S. Transplant Games and managed the U.S. Teams participating in the World Summer and Winter Transplant Games. These events demonstrate the tremendous success of transplantation and honor the thousands of selfless acts of love from donors all over the world. Most importantly, they serve to encourage more organ donation, which can give the “gift of life” to many of the 90,000 people in the U.S. who are in need of a life-saving organ transplant.
