Transplant Games
The National Kidney Foundation's U.S. Transplant Games is an Olympic-style athletic competition for organ transplant recipients and includes additional events and programs for donor families (organ and/or tissue), living donors and health care professionals.
Hosted every two years in different cities throughout the country, the Games bring together donor families, living donors, transplant recipients and health care professionals in a tribute to transplantation and those who gave the gift of life.
Programs for Donor Families
Donor families attending the Games can participate in special events, including:
- Donor Recognition Ceremony, a moving ceremony including music, thoughts from organ and tissue recipients, a video montage and more to honor donors who have given the gift of life upon death
- Giving, Grieving, Growing Workshops, educational programs and sharing sessions on topics related to grief and donation
- Quilt Pinning, a special event during which families are invited to pin patches in honor of loved ones to the National Donor Family Quilt
- Coffeehouse, an open mic forum for donor families, recipients, living donors and friends to share stories, poems and songs about how donation has affected their lives
