Lynn Oehler is honored to receive the Susan C. Knapp award. Her passion for teaching and educating started as a practicing dietitian at Yale-New Haven Hospital in the adult and pediatric research unit. At that time, she was a faculty member for the dietetic internship program before leaving for graduate school. After receiving her Doctor of Science degree in Nutrition from Boston University, Lynn continued her work as a research dietitian for the USDA Western Human Nutrition Research Center at the Presidio in San Francisco. Lynn joined Satellite Healthcare in 2005, and during her time as clinic dietitian with patient responsibilities, she was involved with teaching new clinical hemodialysis technicians and RN orientation classes as well as acting as a preceptor for numerous interns. She is a member of the local CRN and was Chair after holding the positions of Associate Chair and Chair-elect. Lynn’s involvement with the Renal Practice Group through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics includes Nominating Committee Chair-Elect, Nominating Committee Chair, and currently Chair of Awards and Scholarships. After joining NKF in 2005, Lynn has volunteered for many NKF events and for the past four years has been a member of the San Francisco Bay area NKF Medical Planning Committee for the annual fall symposium. Currently, she has the honor of mentoring interns through the Academy, as well as training and mentoring fellow satellite nephrology dietitians in her role as Nutrition Services Manager for the past five years. Her passion for educating and mentoring continues to this day.
After joining NKF in 2005, Lynn has volunteered for many NKF events and for the past four years has been a member of the San Francisco Bay area NKF Medical Planning Committee for the annual fall symposium.
