Northwest Kidney Centers
National Kidney Foundation Council on Renal Nutrition
Nikki Nygren-Stevenson, RDN, CD, has been a renal dietitian at Northwest Kidney Centers, in Seattle, WA, for the past 10 years. She works with patients in all stages of renal disease and with all treatment modalities. In addition to patient care, Nikki is an educator and has created and edited over 50 patient education materials including the “Art of Good Eating,” brochures, cookbooks, and handouts. She also mentors dietetic students in rotations at Northwest Kidney Centers each year.
Nikki has been involved in the local and national levels of the NKF CRN for 10 years. She started as the Treasurer for WSCRN and quickly recognized the value in educating and collaborating with other renal dietitians. Nikki was instrumental and spent countless hours working to combine the Washington (WSCRN) and Oregon (OCRN) CRN chapters for sustainability. She worked to improve access to the local chapter by setting up webinars and creating a website. Because of her commitment, the new PNW-CRN chapter now includes 5 states, offers webinars every other month, and continues to push for growth. Nikki has also worked tirelessly with Northwest Renal Dietitians on an annual two-day conference for educating renal dietitians.
As a Region V Representative for four years, Nikki’s devotion to education and professional growth has drawn her to get involved with the CRN Education Committee, the Nutrition Advisory Board, and the Membership Committee. She has written and updated chapters in the Executive CRN Handbook and has been chairperson for the Research Grant Committee and CE Review Committee. She continues to be great support and encouragement for the local chapters.
