What is hospice care?

Usually, if you choose to stop dialysis, you are considered to be in a terminal state, and you are eligible for hospice care. Hospice care helps with physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. The type of hospice care available may be either a home hospice program or a hospice facility. Your healthcare team can help you and your loved ones in making arrangements for hospice care.
You can speak with your healthcare team for more information on hospice care. You can also call the NKF Cares Patient Help Line toll-free at 855.NKF.CARES (855.653.2273) or email at nkfcares@kidney.org.
