National Kidney Foundation Announces Fresenius Medical Care North America as New Kidney Walk National Team
NEW YORK, NY, April 20, 2017 – The 2017 Kidney Walk, the nation's largest fundraiser to fight kidney disease, welcomes a new National Team, Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA), which has set the Walk’s largest-ever National Team fundraising goal: $250,000.
FMCNA, a health care company, is focused on delivering the highest quality care to people with renal and other chronic conditions. FMCNA joins a group of eight National Teams that encourage Kidney Walk fundraising and participation across multiple locations nationwide.
“We are so proud to welcome Fresenius Medical Care North America as a new National Team for Kidney Walk and honor them for setting the Walk’s highest fundraising goal ever,” said Kevin Longino, CEO, National Kidney Foundation and a kidney transplant patient. “Through their ongoing commitment to Kidney Walk, FMCNA’s support helps us deliver the highest quality education, programs and services to all those affected by kidney disease in local communities nationwide.”
The Kidney Walk is the nation's largest fundraiser to fight kidney disease. Held in nearly 100 communities, more than 75,000 walkers join NKF to raise over $8 million to help kidney patients and their families each year. More than 80 cents of every dollar donated directly supports NKF programs and services.
Since 2012, nearly 11,000 walkers on Fresenius-affiliated teams have raised nearly $880,000 for Kidney Walk. Fresenius Vascular Care, an FMCNA business, was the first-ever Kidney Walk National Team. Now, FMCNA will bring all of its businesses together under one National Team with a joint fundraising goal of $250,000.
“We are proud of our longstanding relationship with the National Kidney Foundation and are pleased to grow our support for their important efforts in the fight against kidney disease,” said Bill Valle, Chief Executive Officer of Fresenius Medical Care North America. “By aligning our volunteers across our family of companies, and tapping into the same culture of caring that drives our mission, we can make a greater social impact for the benefit of the broader kidney community.”
