Dietitians Honor Outstanding Contributions to National Kidney Foundation

New York, NY (March 19, 2015) — The National Kidney Foundation's Council on Renal Nutrition (NKF-CRN) will honor outstanding professionals who are advancing the field of renal nutrition at Foundation's 2015 Spring Clinical Meetings in Dallas, Texas.

Janella Gonyea, RDN, LD, of Rochester, MN, will receive the Susan C. Knapp Excellence in Education Award. A renal dietitian for over 27 years, Gonyea is currently a renal dietitian at Mayo Clinic, where she has worked for over 27 years, mentored over 200 interns, and provided educational support to medical students, nephrology fellows, and students enrolled in the Hemodialysis Patient Care Technician program in the School of Health Sciences. She often speaks at regional and national meetings on various topics related to renal nutrition and has planned professional educational activities on the local, state and national level, including serving as Co-Chair and subsequently Chair of the planning committee for the dietitian track of the NKF Spring Clinical Meetings. Additionally, Gonyea is the author of numerous articles that have appeared in professional newsletters and peer-reviewed publications, and has served as CRN Co-Editor and Editor of NKF's RenaLink newsletter.

Denise Dilley, of New York, NY, will be honored with the Outstanding Service Award for her work overseeing membership operations and the endeavors of NKF's four Professional Councils. Dilley has worked at the National Kidney Foundation's National Home Office in New York for over seven years and currently serves as Professional Council Activities Director. She has been nominated for this award by NKF-CRN for her work as a liaison between the national organization and the CRN, ensuring that the Council's goals and the renal dietitian role is consistently represented at all levels of the NKF and with outside agencies.

Also being recognized for their work locally in the field of renal nutrition this year are Sharon Stall, MPH, RD, CSR, CDN, of Rochester, NY, AnnaMarie Rodriguez, RD, LD, of Sturtevant, WI, and Leah Beaird, MS, RD of Gilbert, AZ.
