New York, NY (November 7, 2005) - The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) announced the election of Chuck Fruit as its Chairman.
Mr. Fruit, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for The Coca-Cola Company, is a longtime supporter of the NKF on both the national and local levels. In 1986, Fruit received a kidney transplant after living with kidney disease since childhood. As Chief Marketing Officer of The Coca-Cola Company, Mr. Fruit is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's marketing and brand building.
Fruit anticipates using his extensive marketing experience to raise the profile of the NKF, strengthen sponsorship programs and promote a national branding campaign that he helped launch last year.
"My foremost goal is to support the incredible momentum that is under way today at the National Kidney Foundation. The NKF is poised to make great contributions in the areas of public awareness and education, patient services, and professional development. As a long term kidney transplant recipient, I feel very fortunate to play a role in accelerating the fight against kidney disease," says Fruit.
Prior to joining The Coca-Cola Company, Mr. Fruit spent 15 years as an Anheuser Busch executive in St. Louis, where he was a volunteer for the National Kidney Foundation of Eastern Missouri and Metro East.
The National Kidney Foundation, a major voluntary nonprofit health organization, is dedicated to preventing kidney disease, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by kidney disease and increasing the availability of kidneys for transplantation.
