She came into our lives because a young woman had enough love and courage to choose us as her family. She was her father's "Little Princess"; her older brother's "#1 Fan" and my "Best Friend". She liked ballet, country music, tae-kwon-do, brightly colored clothes, her cat "Meow-Dee" and her puppy "Snoopy". School was special to her because she loved to help the others with the skills she already mastered. She loved her teachers because they challenged and encouraged her. Reading was her passion and she wanted to know everything about the world around her. Summer mornings were spent cuddled up together watching Garfield and the Little Mermaid; and afternoons were spent swimming and visiting the library. She lived her seven years with more life and fulfillment than most of us ever dream possible. The day she died, she had drawn 'our family portrait' and placed it on the refrigerator as a surprise. It's what Kayla left for us, and now we share it with you.
