Dr. Teri Browne has more than 25 years of experience in nephrology social work. She is currently the Interim Dean and Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina College of Social Work in Columbia, SC. She earned her MSW at the State University of New York at Buffalo and her PhD at the University of Chicago. Dr. Browne worked as a nephrology social worker for 13 years in NY, CA and IL. She was the Chairperson for the Western New York and Illinois Council of Nephrology Social Work chapters, and then served on the CNSW Executive Committee for many years. She was the national chairperson of CNSW and continues to work extensively with CNSW and the National Kidney Foundation. Dr. Browne is the Editor-in-Chief of National Kidney Foundation’s Journal of Nephrology Social Work. She is a member of the End-Stage Renal Disease Network of the South Atlantic Divisional Board. She is the author of numerous journal articles and the co-editor of the Handbook of Health Social Work.

Dr. Browne is a Competency Chair of the Council on Social Work Education Specialized Practice Curricular Guide for Health Social Work national task force and an invited member of the American Society of Nephrology Health Care Justice Committee.
