Eastern Missouri and Metro East

2012 Kidney Walk

The National Kidney Foundation Serving Eastern Missouri and Metro East held their annual Kidney Walk presented by Express Scripts at the Saint Louis University campus on Saturday, April 28, 2012. 900+ walkers and 100 volunteers gathered at Laclede Park for pre-walk activities. Tim Gilbert of Total Traffic Network was the event EMCEE with a special appearance by Matt Sczesny of Channel 4. Participants enjoyed a casual one or two mile non-competitive walk around SLU's campus, food, entertainment, and fun! Sam Safety from the St. Louis Police Department presented certificates of bravery to all the children in attendance that have some stage of kidney disease. Norton the Penguin and the SLU cheerleaders also stopped by to say hello. Monies raised will benefit the vital programs NKF offers to local residents, including free kidney health screenings, patient assistance programs, community health education, professional medical symposia and other organ donation awareness programs. Donations are still being accepted. Make a Donation to the 2012 Kidney Walk and help us reach our goal.

The event held on November 5, 2011 at the Four Seasons Hotel marked the Physicians' Pheast 25th anniversary. It was originally organized by friends of the National Kidney Foundation as a means to raise funds for medical research. Area physicians displayed their culinary talents by preparing the entire meal. Now known as the Pheast Gala, the name was changed to show that this is a community event open to all those who support the NKF mission. This event gives the community the chance to gather together in support of the fight against kidney disease while raising funds for research and other NKF programs. More information to follow.
