Regional Recognized Renal Dietitian Award – Region 1

Marisol received her bachelors of science in Nutrition and Medical Dietetics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Early in her career, she practiced as a dietitian in community health programs in the Chicagoland area including WIC and the YWCA. She then switched to clinical nutrition working in the hospital and nursing home setting. Four hospitals later she started her private practice and then four years later her sister said “You know, DaVita is hiring” and so started her journey in renal nutrition. Her first stop was DaVita then US Renal Care until a Physician’s Assistant said, “I heard you’ve been looking for full time work. You know, Pure Life Renal is hiring."

Over the past 5 years, it has been a delightful learning experience stepping into the Lead Dietitian role at PLR, serving on the ESRD Network 1 Medical Review Board, Chapter Chair for the CRN of New England and the CRN Executive Committee Region 1 Representative role as well as serving on two CRN committees. The designation of Fellow of the NKF in July of 2023 marked a milestone as Marisol continues on her journey in supporting renal nutrition and the dietitian profession.
