The NKF Council of Nephrology Nurses and Technicians gives the Outstanding Nurse Award to a nurse that demonstrates exceptional clinical skills, compassionate care, and exemplary service to kidney patients.

Jean Donovan, BSN, RN, serves as the Clinical Coordinator for DaVita Dialysis at the Brookline, Massachusetts clinic. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors from Chamberlain University. Jean began her nursing career with DaVita as a staff nurse and progressively advanced through key clinical leadership roles, including Charge Nurse and Home Hemodialysis (HHD) Nurse, before stepping into her current position as Clinic Nurse Manager.

Throughout her tenure in nephrology, Jean has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to patient advocacy and teammate development. She leads by example to uphold the highest standards of clinical excellence across her clinic. Demonstrating exceptional dedication, Jean regularly covers shifts at her home clinic and neighboring centers, while actively training and supporting patients transitioning into the home hemodialysis program.

Jean collaborates closely with an interdisciplinary care team—including nurses, dietitians, social workers, and nephrologists—to ensure seamless alignment on individualized treatment plans and deliver compassionate, patient-centered care. Her proactive leadership and dedication continually elevate both patient outcomes and team culture.
