Kathleen Fennell, RN, is a registered nurse from Chicago, Illinois. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Illinois State University’s Mennonite College of Nursing. She has dedicated the past eleven years to patient care at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Kathleen began her nursing career in oncology, and then cardiothoracic ICU, before joining the kidney transplant team. She has served the last four years as a pre-kidney transplant coordinator. In this role, she guides patients through every step of the transplant listing process, providing education, support and advocacy. Whether the patient has a standard work-up, or a more complex one, Kathleen is there for her patients to help make sense of it all.
Kathleen is a valued member of a multi-disciplinary team that includes physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, social workers, medical assistants, dietitians, pharmacists and financial specialists. She is recognized for her commitment, positive attitude, and ability to help patients navigate complex medical decisions. Kathleen is currently completing her master’s degree and looks forward to continuing to grow within the field of transplant nursing.
