Dean H. Baron, BSN, RN, CNN, has been a nurse for 30 years, graduating with his bachelor’s in nursing from Riverside College in the Philippines. He is currently finishing his Master of Science in Nursing Education at Chamberlain University.

 

Dean has been the Clinical Coordinator at Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC) for almost 20 years. He oversees the day-to-day operation of a busy acute dialysis unit. Dean serves as an educator to dialysis staff and helps train ICU nurses in the basics of continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). He also gives orientation/training sessions on dialysis to the first-year nephrology fellows.

 

Dean is also an adjunct instructor in the Dialysis Technology Program at Triton College in Melrose Park, Illinois. He is a member of Verve College's advisory board, a career college for LPN and allied health professions. He is passionate about imparting his knowledge and expertise to future nephrology professionals.

 

He is actively involved in various professional organizations. He is currently the Vice-President of the Philippine Nurses Association of America-Illinois Chapter. He holds several committee chairmanships in PNAA-IL such as membership, publicity & publication, and education and scholarship committee. He is also actively involved in the American Nephrology Nurses Association Windy City Chapter #305, serving as its Chapter Secretary. As ANNA Windy City Chapter's Secretary, he coordinates educational activities and writes articles for publication to ANNA Updates. He volunteered to give vaccines in many vaccination sites in the State of Illinois during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. He organizes community initiatives such as kidney and diabetes screening, health fair, and COVID vaccination programs.
