The Kidney Walk is the nation's largest walk to fight kidney disease. Held in nearly 100 communities, the event raises awareness and funds lifesaving programs that educate and support patients, their families and those at risk. Kidney donors, recipients, and donor families come together to celebrate the gift of life and each other.
We’re here to listen and support you during the COVID-19 outbreak. Find answers to the most common questions and stay informed about the latest coronavirus developments.
For information about kidney disease, call our patient hotline at 1-855-NKF-CARES (1-855-653-2273) or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Lines are open Monday - Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Eastern Time.
On the 5th day of every month, celebrate with the NKF by Taking 5. We invite you to join us and take a break from this “new now” to do something you love, something to start a healthy habit, or something to help you feel connected.
5 Creative Ways to Take 5 (find more ideas here)
- Run, Walk or Bike 5k or 5 miles
- Cook a 5-ingredient meal
- Write 5 letters to loved ones
- Take 5 deep breaths
- Listen to your 5 favorite songs
Once you’re set on how you are Taking 5, challenge your virtual community and ask them to Give 5 – $5 to fund NKF’s lifesaving programs and/or to take their own 5. When we Take 5 and Give 5, we’re taking care of our own well-being, while giving hope and support kidney patients and transplant recipients who are especially vulnerable at this time, and don’t forget to tag your Take 5 using: #take5forNKF
Thank you to all who attended the 39th Annual Kidney Ball, the largest gala in the U.S. celebrating the significant strides we've made in the awareness, prevention, and treatment of kidney disease. Together we raised over $400k to advance kidney health and end chronic kidney disease. Thank you to all our supporters with a special thank you to Paul Smith of Red Hat who served as our Gala Chair and to our amazing sponsors. Please visit www.kidneyballdc.org for a full listing of our sponsors and a link to our Facebook album with pictures from the evening!
Team Kidney is about what inspires YOU to become a part of the National Kidney Foundation’s coast-to-coast community mobilizing against kidney disease. Celebrate an anniversary, honor a loved one, or push yourself with a 10K — the possibilities are endless when you’re determined to raise funds and hope for the 37 million Americans battling kidney disease.
How it works:
Challenge Yourself: Run, ride, or compete in support of the National Kidney Foundation.
Honor Someone: Create a fundraising page in honor of a kidney patient, organ donor, kidney transplant recipient, or in memory of a loved one.
Celebrate Milestones: Raise funds in honor of your birthday, transplant anniversary, wedding or any other celebration! Mark the occasion with Team Kidney.
Get Creative: Create your own unique fundraising event, from bowling tournaments to auctions to ice cream socials. All creative ideas are welcome!

A conversation can save a life.
Often the hardest part for someone with kidney failure is asking a loved one or friend to become a donor. Whether you need a kidney or are considering donation, let us help you start the conversation. Living donation makes better lives possible.

Every single day, the Kidney Car program receives over 100 car donations. In fact, our car donation program is one of the oldest and largest used charity car programs in the country. Kidney Cars has been in operation since 1983, and during that time over 685,000 people have donated their car, truck or boat to the National Kidney Foundation's vehicle donation program. Help save lives by donating today.
