Meredith Atkinson, MD, MHS

Dr. Meredith Atkinson is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and a pediatric nephrologist at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She serves as Co-Director of the Pediatric Lupus Multi-Disciplinary Clinic and Director of the NIH-funded Predoctoral Clinical Research Training Program at Johns Hopkins.

Dr. Atkinson currently serves as President of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology (ASPN). Her clinical research program focuses on identifying modifiable risk factors for kidney disease progression in children, expanding access to pediatric clinical trials, and advancing prenatal interventions for congenital anomalies of the kidneys and urinary tract.

Through her work, Dr. Atkinson is committed to ensuring that the needs of children and adolescents are fully represented in kidney health research, care, and policy. She is particularly focused on elevating the pediatric voice within national kidney health priorities, strengthening the future kidney care workforce, and fostering partnerships that improve the lives of patients and families across the lifespan.
