Ashton Chen, DO

Transplant Advisory Committee Member


Dr. Chen graduated from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. She completed a pediatric residency program at Cohen Children’s Medical Center in NY and her pediatric nephrology fellowship training at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Currently, Dr. Chen is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Texas at Austin/Dell Medical School. She also serves as the Division Chief of Nephrology and Kidney Transplant Medical Director at Dell Children’s Medical Center.

Her research has focused on improving access to transplantation for children with disabilities and optimizing their post-transplant care. Currently, she is investigating the impact of social drivers of health (SDoH) on pediatric kidney transplant outcomes and healthcare utilization with the goal of reducing healthcare disparities and improving outcomes. She has previously served on the UNOS Ethics Committee and is an active member of the International Pediatric Transplant Association and the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology.
