About 2025 Patient Symposium

Tuesday, April 22 – Thursday, April 24, 8:30 – 9:30am: virtual sessions over Zoom Webinar each day.

Sunday, April 27 in-person session at the Holiday Inn South in Independence Ohio 6001 Rockside Road. 

Patient Symposium is NKF’s annual patient program designed to engage, empower, and educate patients and caregivers about kidney disease. This is done through a hybrid (both virtual and in-person) format covering medical advances, financials, nutrition essentials, wellness care, and mental health associated with kidney disease.

  • 12:30-1:10pm FREE LUNCH & VISIT SPONSOR/VENDOR BOOTHS

    • There will be 10-minute breaks between each of the session periods.

  • 1:10pm-2:00pm Mental Health and CKD Patients—Led by Sherrell Turner, Andrew Linder and Emily Linder

  • 2:10pm-3:00pm CHOOSE 1 OF THE 3 SMALLER BREAKOUT SESSIONS:

    • Conservative Care and CKD—Led by Susan Busch

    • Caregiver Burden with CKD Experience—Led by Dr. Parak Shroff

    • Kidney Transplant and Living Donation—Led by Dr. David Axelrod

  • 3:10pm-4:00pm Diabetes and CKD—Led by Dr. Vikram Kumar

  • 4:10pm-5:00pm Potassium Diets and CKD—Led by Summer Van Arsdale!

  • 5:00pm CONCLUSION OF IN-PERSON EVENT

Kidney Resource Guide

The Kidney Resource Guide is a FREE book that all participants of the 2025 Patient Symposium will receive that day/week.  The articles explore a variety of topics related to the patient and caregiver experience, kidney transplant/living donation, insurance or financial information, modalities, medication adherence, pre-dialysis, diabetes, hypertension, diet/exercise, and more!  Articles are written by kidney health medical professionals and always have “next steps” associated with the information given for the reader.
