ENDING DISPARITIES IN CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

THURSDAY, OCT 12, 2023 - 9:00AM - 11:00AM

Join the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) during a virtual Leadership Summit focused on ending disparities in CKD. This National NKF Collective Impact Strategy's goal is to increase the early diagnosis and management of CKD by implementing a groundbreaking roadmap to drive a cultural shift in primary care, especially in communities disproportionately burdened by CKD.
More than 90 leaders representing clinical care, public policy, payment models, and communiuty-based organizations will share their findings and recommendations.

  • Title: A Time to Revisit the Role of Uric Acid and Gout in Kidney and Heart Disease
  • Speaker: Richard J Johnson, MD Professor of Medicine and Chief The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension

In this lecture, the speakers will shed new light on the topic and provide clinical care and management guidelines. Dr. Richard Johnson will review the controversy of whether uric acid has a causal role in heart and kidney disease (including the results of several large clinical trials such as CKD Fix, All Heart and PERL studies), discuss the new data linking hyperuricemia with inflammation and heart disease and discuss the association of uric acid with diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

New Patient Packets

New Patient Information Packets are made available to all patients who receive treatment for kidney failure at facilities served by the us. Its purpose is to inform patients and their families abut kidney disease and of the variety of resources and activities we provide.

Living Donor Information

Packets are made available to anyone who is potentially interested in being a living kidney donor. The packets provide information about the evaluation process for potential donors, the benefits and risk of donation, and where you can find additional information and support. If you're interested in being a living donor and would like information about kidney donation, please contact Marsheen Campbell or call 614.882.6184 ext. 853.

Educational Literature & Materials

The NKF has a variety of educational brochures and materials geared toward patients in the early stages of kidney disease, dialysis patients, transplant recipients, family supporters, professionals and those who are at risk for kidney disease. Contact us to receive this free literature or view our literature in the NKF Store.

Professional CME/CE Activities

The National Kidney Foundation has been awarded Accreditation with Commendation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and offers a variety of CME/CE activities with an inter-professional team approach.
